This is diagnosed on inspection where you note fullness in popliteal fossa and possibly varus deformity in OA
- Walk
- Sit and feel for crepitus
- “Before I examine the knee joint, I will first evaluate your lump. Please lie down with face down” - pause and wait for examiner response

- “My findings are consistent with a popliteal baker’s cyst, I would like to go on to examine rest of knee”
